OM - Thanks for pointing that out. I missed that point. So, they dropped the double standard which is reasonable. Sir82 - exactly! Frankly, the code is pretty strong now because most of the kids don't really believe. Not sure if the elder's headaches would increase though. Seems to me that it's a whole lot easier to have them just not rat on each other than to deal with all the JCs that pop up around the under 25 group. Also, the counsel by 2 elders is much less time consuming than putting a JC together. Don't ask, don't tell!!!

Elders Can Hide their Own Sins from the Past-Yet Continue as Elders? Read
by flipper ini was shocked ( though i probably shouldn't have been ) when reading the new elders manual concerning whether elders have to confess up about former sins from a few years earlier.
notice this on pg.
38 , paragraph 19 : it states, " if it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past : the body of elders may determine he can continue to serve if the following is true : the immorality or other serious wrongdoing occured more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned.

I think more of these sorts of situations are out there, it's just that the local BOE either 1) figures its not worth it and caves or 2) the CO gets them removed on some trumped up charges and changes the dynamics of the BOE to tilt in his favor. I've seen it first hand, although not necessarily over KH projects. I know that the RBC (with the COs blessings and encouragement) can be quite heavy handed in "suggesting" inprovements, upgrades or new builds.
To see a couple of loyal, long term elders who had no beef with the WTS get to the point of actually suing their "brothers" is significant in my mind. I have no doubt that these guys will be df'ed for this, it's just a matter of time. But, I wonder how the local congo will view that action.
This is the major problem with the WTS. They feel they can do whatever they want to whoever they want and noone will stand up to them. Hell, they're speaking for God. It's this mentality that is counter-productive and will bite them in the butt.

yeah, it always seemed to me to be unfair that elders would actually be held to a lower standard than a rank and file publisher. Double standard for sure.

This is a really interesting story. I scanned over the complaint and this situation is pretty ugly. But, given the heavy handed way the RBC deals with local KHs, I'm not surprised.
Good work on sniffing out this lawsuit and hope you're able to get more of the backstory. It could be that since it's in litigation, the parties need to keep that on the downlow for now.
I wonder how quickly these former elders who were allegedly removed for complaining are df'ed? I'm sure this would be "brazen" conduct, wouldn't it? The WTS will probably wait unitl the lawsuit is done before they df them.
Hopefully these guys will then sue the individuals including elders and the CO personally for defamation when they are df'ed.
If these guys are reading this - GOOD LUCK on the suit!

DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD EVER BE A 'CONSCIENCE MATTER'?
by Mary inbegin outter wrap scientists at mcmaster university, hamilton, ontario have been able to convert skin cells into blood cells.
this is very preliminary and i imagine it's going to be a few years before it's perfected, but i wonder what crooklyn's stand on this would be.
do you think they'd make this a 'conscience matter'?.

Wow - this is terrific news. If they can get other types as well, this could end up being one of the biggest advancements in medicine.
As for the Borg, my guess is that this would likely be a "conscience matter". I'm sure they would come up with some twisted logic about how these blood cells were never in a body and thus never part of the "life force" of another being. I think the legal dept would love to make all blood conscience issues because I'm sure they concerned about the liability. I don't see them putting the clamp down on any new techinques and they're probably hoping that science helps them out and eventually figures out a way to eliminate the transfusion of the 4 forbidden forms.
If (when) science figures out a way to mass produce this stuff, it would be the out the WTS is looking for IMO.

Throwing a wet blanket on 2034
by pirata inon a few occasions i've heard suggestions of 2034 as the "date", since it is 120 years after 1914; just like noah's time.. it looks to me like the governing body is being pro-active in preventing this in becoming a date that is speculated on.. the dec 15, 2010 wt (printed version) has an interesting qfr, asking if noah had knowledge of the 120 years.
the answer was: noah didn't know about the 120 year time period, but that didn't matter to him because he knew it was coming and kept busy.
i don't currently have the printed copy handy but can post a few quotes from it later on (unless someone else has it handy).. just thought it was interesting.

They don't want it speculated on until we get within 7 years or so of it. It pushes it too far in the future at this stage of the game. But I'm convinced that's where they are headed around 2027 or so.

Has there, or are there any normal pro-WT members on this forum? As in mentally stable, anybody?
by miseryloveselders infirst off, forgive me if i'm guilty of being judgemental.
i got my own fair share of mental problems.
it goes without saying that a bunch of us on this forum are misfits and freaks.

MLE - I understand how you feel. I felt the same way when I was "serving" but trust me when I say that if you decide to step "aside" you will feel much better about the whole situation.
You're right, the choice is yours and not without major repurcussions. Even stepping down is difficult to do and as you know, they will assume you've done something sinful.
But, I'm of the opinion that not hurting our families is a legit reason to not blow up the WT bridge. They're just as controlled as we once were.
I recall when I awoke, I tried to pretend there wasn't anything wrong and continued serving under the guise that I could help people. It ate me up that I had to say things from the platform that I thought were untrue. But, when I finally realized that there wasn't much I could do to change things and finally resigned, I swear it was like a weight had been lifted.
I still feel like you do sometimes. There are times that I wish I could go to sleep and not wake up. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel (and no, it's not a train). Things will get better.

Very bland as compared with some other "special" talks. Maybe that's the new strategy?
I remember I gave one that was something about how "soon" the world's religions would be destroyed. Nothing nearly as provocative now.
Honestly, if more of their parts were along these lines and less about how God was going to destroy babies "soon" or how worthless practical living is and helping others is when compared to "preaching" they would be much better off.
Perhaps a sign? Nah, just a lure if you ask me.
